“Sizdah Be Dar” is the thirteenth day of the first Iranian month of the year – Farvardin – and a national holiday. It is called “the day of nature and tree” in the Persian calendar. But there is an old belief in Iran that every one should leave the home for the nature and stay out of the house for hours to keep away from sinister and ominous happenings in the New Year. People usually take refuge in jungles, parks, river and sea side; and eat lunch there. They return home at sunset. Family members enjoy themselves and spend happy time together with relatives or friends.
